B2B is not just "DTC with bigger boxes." Routing guides, EDI compliance, case pack discipline, BOL accuracy, and retailer-specific labeling all matter — and chargebacks for non-compliance get expensive quickly.

PO receipt via EDI or portal

Retailers send purchase orders via EDI (SPS Commerce, GS1, custom). Some retailers use vendor portals. POs flow into the WMS automatically with retailer-specific routing rules applied.

Routing guide validation

Each retailer has a routing guide specifying packaging, labeling, ASN format, and lead time requirements. We validate every B2B order against the retailer's current routing guide before picking.

Case pack & palletization

Retailers want consistent case quantities. Apparel might be 6 per case, food might be 24 per case. Case packs built per retailer spec, palletized to spec, stretch-wrapped, labeled with GS1-128 UCC labels.

ASN transmission

Advance Shipping Notice transmitted to retailer EDI within the required window (typically 24 hours before arrival). Includes carton-level detail with SCC barcodes.

BOL generation & carrier tender

Bill of Lading generated with NMFC codes, freight class, and routing per retailer spec. Carrier tendered per retailer's preferred carrier list (often UPS LTL, FedEx Freight, or retailer-routed).

Compliance documentation

Every B2B shipment includes packing slip in retailer-required format, certificate of origin where required, lot tracking documentation for FDA-regulated products, and retailer-specific GS1 labels.

EDI 850 (PO), 856 (ASN), 810 (invoice), 940 (warehouse ship order). Full SPS Commerce integration handles the document flow for most major retailers.

GS1-128 UCC label generation

Required by Walmart, Target, and most major grocery. We generate labels in the correct format with SCC numbers tied to your ASN.

BOL accuracy

Wrong freight class, missing NMFC code, or incorrect routing kicks back shipments at retailer DCs. We validate every BOL before tender.

Same inventory pool serves DTC and B2B

One inventory pool, two channel workflows. No "DTC inventory" vs "wholesale inventory" silos. Reduces overstock risk and improves cash flow.

OTIF performance tracking

On Time In Full is a critical retailer metric. We track OTIF per retailer and flag risk early. Walmart penalizes 3% per non-compliant shipment — we don't let you cross the threshold.

Which retailers can you drop-ship to?
Most major US retailers — Walmart, Target, Whole Foods, Kroger, CVS, Walgreens, Nordstrom, Saks, Bloomingdale's, Sephora, Ulta, REI, and many more. Full retailer list available on request.
Do you handle EDI?
Yes. SPS Commerce is the most common integration, but we also support direct EDI for retailers who require it. EDI setup is quoted separately from ongoing fulfillment.
What about GS1 labeling and case packs?
Standard. Every B2B retailer has labeling requirements — GS1-128 UCC labels, retailer-specific SKU labels, hazmat declarations where required. Case pack quantities built per retailer spec.
How do you handle chargebacks?
Prevention first. Routing guide validation before picking, ASN format verification, BOL accuracy checks. When chargebacks do happen (sometimes from retailer error), we provide documentation to dispute.
Can you do retailer-routed freight?
Yes. Most major retailers prefer to control freight themselves (Walmart routes through Walmart Transportation, Target uses TargetExpress). We tender to retailer-routed carriers per their specifications.
Can DTC and wholesale share inventory?
Yes — and they should. One inventory pool, channel-specific routing, real-time sync to both your Shopify store and your wholesale ASN system. Eliminates the operational silo most brands accidentally build.
