What's included

Crowdfunding fulfillment workflow.

Crowdfunding is the most stressful fulfillment scenario in DTC — one massive delivery wave, thousands of backers, multiple tiers, international shipping, and an audience that will publicly complain if anything goes wrong. Here's how we handle it.

Backer survey integration

BackerKit, Crowd Ox, or Pledge Manager push backer data — address, reward tier, add-ons, language preference — directly to our WMS. No manual import.

Reward tier kit recipes

Each reward tier is a distinct kit SKU in the WMS with its own Bill of Materials. Tier 1 has product A, Tier 2 has products A+B+sticker, Tier 3 has everything plus signed thank-you card.

Pre-assembly wave

Inventory arrives from manufacturer, prep and kit-assemble entire backer base in advance of ship date. Photographed before storage for backer QC reference.

Delivery wave shipping

Single coordinated delivery window. We can ship 5,000 rewards in a 5-day window with proper planning. Backer notifications timed for review/social impact.

International routing

30-60% of Kickstarter backers are typically international. Per-country customs documentation, DHL/FedEx International routing, duty/tax handling configurable.

Backer support data

Tracking pushed back to BackerKit, Crowd Ox, or your platform. Backer-facing tracking URLs included. Lost-shipment claims handled via standard carrier process.

Why Matrix

Why crowdfunding fulfillment goes wrong (and how we prevent it).

The internet has thousands of horror stories about Kickstarter creators who couldn't ship rewards. Almost all of them stem from the same root cause: treating fulfillment as an afterthought after the campaign closes.

BackerKit/Crowd Ox native integration

Backer data flows from the pledge manager into our WMS automatically. No CSV exports, no broken data, no addresses lost in translation.

Reward tier complexity handled

Multiple tiers, add-ons, stretch goals, regional variants all modeled as distinct kit SKUs. Every backer gets exactly what they pledged for.

International from day one

Crowdfunding is fundamentally international. We handle international shipping with proper customs docs, duty/tax routing, and regional carrier choice.

Pre-assembly capacity

Inventory typically arrives from manufacturer 30-90 days before delivery window. We use that window to pre-assemble and stage every kit. Peak shipping week happens with kits already built.

Manufacturer-direct inbound

Container drop directly from manufacturer to our dock. Port of Long Beach adjacency compresses inbound transit for creators sourcing from Asia.

Post-delivery service handling

Lost shipments, customs holdups, damaged units — all standard parts of crowdfunding delivery. We handle the carrier claims so creators can focus on product development.

Who it's for

Crowdfunding scenarios we fit.

Kickstarter campaigns shipping 1,000-50,000 backers

The default. Single delivery wave, multi-tier rewards, international audience.

Indiegogo campaigns post-InDemand

InDemand shipments continue post-campaign. Different operational rhythm than initial delivery — more like ongoing DTC.

Sequential reward waves

Some campaigns ship in waves (Wave 1 in March, Wave 2 in June). We handle each wave as its own delivery event.

Stretch goal complications

Stretch goals unlock additional rewards mid-campaign. Reward tier SKUs need to be modified post-campaign. We handle the kit recipe updates.

International-heavy campaigns

Some campaigns are 70-80% international backers. We handle international shipping as the default workflow, not the exception.

Post-Kickstarter DTC transition

After the Kickstarter delivery wave, most creators continue selling to retail customers. We transition seamlessly from crowdfunding fulfillment to ongoing DTC operations.

Pricing

Transparent, itemized, no minimums.

Crowdfunding fulfillment is typically quoted as a campaign-specific project rate that covers inbound receiving, kit assembly, storage during the pre-delivery window, and the delivery wave shipping. International shipping carrier rates pass through at our negotiated rates. Many creators transition to ongoing DTC fulfillment after delivery completes.

FAQ
Which crowdfunding platforms do you support?
Kickstarter and Indiegogo are the primary sources. Backer data flows in via BackerKit (most common), Crowd Ox, Pledge Manager, or CSV export from your platform.
Can you handle international backers?
Yes. Crowdfunding is fundamentally international — we handle international shipping with per-country customs documentation, DHL/FedEx International routing, duty/tax handling, and regional carrier selection.
What about reward tiers and stretch goals?
Each tier is a distinct kit SKU with its own Bill of Materials. Stretch goals that add or modify rewards are handled by updating the kit recipes before the delivery wave.
When should I bring you in?
As early as possible — ideally during your Kickstarter campaign before you've finalized manufacturing. We can review your reward tier complexity and shipping economics before you make decisions that are expensive to undo.
Can you receive inventory direct from my manufacturer?
Yes. Most crowdfunding creators source from Asia. Container drop direct from manufacturer to our LA-port-adjacent dock — significantly faster than landing inventory at an East Coast facility.
What happens after the delivery wave?
Most creators continue selling. We transition you to ongoing DTC fulfillment operations using the same inventory pool. Same software, same team, lower per-order rates as volume normalizes.
